Eye Donation Awareness

Eye-Donation awareness camp during Installation

As part of the district Avoidable Blindness initiative, RBA organised three events to raise awareness on the importance of eye donation: an eye donation awareness camp during its installation ceremony for the board of directors on July 14 2019, and two blind walk events – one on World Sight Day with Project Vision at Residency Road and second on the Indian Republic Day with Rotary Vidyaranyapura at Vidyaranyapura.

As part of the Koti Nati project, RBA in collaboration with green NGO Husirigagi Hasiru conducted two tree plantation initiatives on the Indian Independence Day and the World Environment Day and planted 1300 saplings at Kolar and Doddaballapur.

RBA started a first-of-its-kind counselling service for persons with disabilities called Upashruti Helpline on 15th August 2019. This telephonic and online service offers emotional support to persons going through disability

In December 2019 as part of its continued observation of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, RBA organised a first-of-its-kind workshop to provide training in first aid to persons with disabilities at Samarthanam International, a cross-disability NGO.

IDPD Awards

RBA was lead club in the 16 club joint project at the Vocational Diversity Awards 2019 conducted by the district Vocational service committee on 3rd December 2019 – the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. In this second edition of the awards, eight persons from the diversity community were recognised for their professional excellence.
